Exterior Design
When you upgrade from the base LX CR-V trim level on the CR-V, a whole host of additional features follows along with it. This is the Sport trim, after all, and so is the design made even more dynamic. It’s led ahead by upgraded 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels in bold shark grey and round LED fog lights, while the rear is followed up behind by the dual exhaust with a premium chrome finisher. Sporty it is, but it improves on utility as well over the CR-V LX, with roof rails, a one-touch moonroof between it, power body-coloured door mirrors on the side, variable intermittent windshield wipers on the front and a power tailgate out the back.
Interior Design
The interior follows suite behind those exterior upgrades and introduces a ton of new features. Sport and luxury are represented in high demand with sport pedals, a 12-way adjustable power driver seat and a host of leather additions in the leatherette/fabric combo seats, along with the wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Not all about style as well, the interior sees some utilitarian accents with a front passenger seatback pocket for those items you don’t want to lose track of, and a retractable cargo cover to keep your gear protected and in place. Upgrading to the Sport trim allows you to get that first sampling of all the CR-V is capable of as you progress along its wide-ranging models.
Technology
Just as the style, comfort and utility of the CR-V has improved for this Sport model, so has some additional tech elements to provide you with more connectivity and convenience of use in your SUV. The HondaLink remote system provides a simple link between you and your vehicle, with its remote system perfect for locking/unlocking and starting your vehicle so it’s already warmed up before you get in. Beefing up the 160-watt, 4 speaker audio system of the lower trim is now a 180-watt, 6 speaker system, as well as adding HD Radio, which provides stations in crisp audio quality. For the passengers in the rear comes two rear USB charging ports, allowing their favourite devices to be kept fully charged and ready for use.
Performance & Efficiency
The 1.5L, 16-valve, Direct Injection, DOHC, turbocharged, 4-cylinder powers both the LX-2WD and LX to 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque, with a CVT connected through both. Where the difference lies is in their fuel efficiency, separated through the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems, offering 8.3 / 7.0 / 7.7 (city/highway/combined, L/100 km) for the LX-2WD and 8.7 / 7.4 / 8.1 (city/highway/combined, L/100 km) of economy. Additional fuel-saving features include an ECON mode, easily activated through the push of a button, as well as idle-stop.
Safety
The sole safety system addition for the CR-V Sport is the Honda LaneWatch blind spot display. Getting rid of that pesky nuisance through the history of driving, this system utilizes a camera positioned under the passenger side mirror to provide you with a live feed of what was previously your blind spot, conveniently showcasing this video on your Display Audio System. Allowing you to see up to four times more visibility than just your standard side view mirror, it’s sure to help make your next lane change that much more safe and convenient.
