Nicole Pereira,
General Manager at Cambridge Centre Honda organized a company excursion for the
entire staff to visit and tour the Honda plant in Alliston, ON
recently. At the plant employees learned what steps Honda has taken to be
environmentally friendly; Honda Canada Manufacturing (HCM), associates
volunteer to plant trees and shrubs, remove trash and stabilize stream banks to
prevent erosion. The HCM associates also help to build a network of walking
trails that feature 23 birdhouses designed to boost the bluebird population in
Ontario. So far, Honda Canada has planted more than 75 000 seedlings and trees.
The employees at the Alliston plant work on an assembly line. They told us it
takes 13 hours to build the vehicle. It only takes 5 hours to actually build
the vehicle and 8 hours to paint the vehicle. The staff of Cambridge Centre
Honda was very fascinated to see the robots perform specific tasks like
assembling some of the pieces during the assembly line.
